Ya'll may or may not have been following the We Have a Dream petition and saga that has ensued in the BM commune... If you haven't been witness to the slaptstick, hand shaking, and back stabbing of the judges and juries in this trial, well you're in for a treat at these entertaining links!

the We Have a Dream petition is at:
www.odeonbar.com/petition/1/petition.php

Larry Harvey's initial response to the petition is at:
www.burningman.com/art_of_b.....sponse.html

The battle commences under various topics at:
bm.tribe.net/

I say, three cheers to BurninBush and fuck all to negotiations with a stagnant and corrupt corporation!

I've been following this for a couple off weeks. The reactions of people not directly involved are pretty interesting (I signed up for the BC/NorthWest BurningMan Yahoo group to get info about their DeComp partyand stayed). Lot of pretty harsh words toward the folks that made the petition.

Oddly enough - I can see this one from both sides - it could be better - it could be a lot worse.......

I've been to the Bush for the last 2 years and keep getting more and more reasons to keep going.... See you next 4th O'July.........

I read that a while back and just laughed.

Larry, pontificating in his most grand of podiums, thier own website. I love it!

I'll take the BB over the BM (hey, that looks like a juvenielle joke waiting to happen!) any day!

Ya know, I'm not exactly sure which is more irritating:

Larry speaking for all the desert artistic ararchists: "the community wants this!"

        - or -

Chicken John speaking for all the desert anarchic artists: "we the artists want that!"

At least CJ is attempting to put an org in place that will remove the ego from the middle.

I've been watching this thread also a bit - sent Chicken my thoughts which he didn't find worthy of print because I asked him why no one can be an artist without Larry's approval - oh wait a minute I meant Larry's money. In case no one has noticed - BM has become so incredibly irrelevent as to make me wonder why everyone is still so hung up on it - you are all just saying that you are nothing without it - you all got your reps from it and are stuck without it. Blah Blah Blah. If you want to make TEMPORAL art and burn it down then come to Burnin'Bush or start your own thing but I wish everyone would quit whining about Larry's money. Yeah I'm from the old days when it was enough to enjoy the beauty of the desert and spend some time with good friends sharing a drink of water and a bite or two. A nice big fire can be so cleansing as well. Then take your crap home with you. If it ain't temporal don't bring it. And if you don't have a life without Larry's money that's your problem - seek professional help - there was life before Larry and there is life after Larry. There just doesn't seem to be much of interest WITH Larry. Don't get me wrong - I like the guy - but my being was never dependent on his or his minions whims - like Flynn once said we were DPW before DPW was DPW. We made Burnin' Bush happen last year and will again this year. I don't have time for BMORG2 -3 - or 38. I don't even know what you all are talking about!!!! Love to All!!!

Yes - please - make it stop. Sorry I even said anything - a moment of boredom struck - please forgive me - please please please. There now I feel better. Please take the BorgSmorg to the Borg tribe - I think they have one (like I said I don't even know what you all are talking about) and let's get on with Burnin' Bush stuff here. Jeez!

ulike lisa? u on her tribe? u vote for her for borg2 curator.

            wake up andsmell the coffee!
    • EXACTLY why I haven't jumped in with these guys... they're just creating their little internal drama which misses the point... go get your own money, do your own thing. BM has convinced these artists that they are wholly (unholy) owned subsidiaries of the ORG. What a legerdemain!!!

All I got to say is this: Things have gone a complete 180 from the shit Chicken and Jim stirred up, which was their intentions I believe to put a fire up some peoples butts and it wasn't only BM they wanted to stir up, it was the people. I am happy to say that their little antic has taken a lot of complainers and have given them something that they had been lost -- they have now a new sense of community, a new sense of excitement, and a growing Network of like-minded individuals. People are totally excited for Borg2 and Burning Man and there is no public anti-Burning Man conversations going on for once. The money thing is not the only focus. We are going to try to do what we can raise money to help some Artists get out there but we are not the next money pig for 'what are you going to do for me types'. We are offering something that BM hasn't been able to provide for a long time, we are giving a face and a name back to the Artist. It is very hard to come to know the Artists in the current Grant process with BM. With the Borg2 the Artists are in front of the people and they are going to have to work for it. Also, the most celebrated artists in my mind are the one who are going to say to the Borg2 - ' you know what, if you can get me some money cool, but I will do all I can to get my Art out there and be a part of this experiment'. Those people are going to be the ones that really make the difference and we are going to do ALL that we can to figure ways that we can share resources/transportation etc. and make it as easy as possible for those who want to be there. So don't miss out on something just because of how it got started.

I say borg2 raises the money and then sport everyone on over to BURNIN'BUSH! Larry wouldn't notice, would he? A few less artists on the playa? A few less bucks in borg1 bank account? ha ha. After all, he denies there's ever been a core to this arty-farty burny-many thangy... We must have been onebig bad brain-art-fart in the borg1 fantabulous imagination.
          I agree with Planet R-
Rock on... or off of Larry
          xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
oh ya, but Chicken might have to suffer
      • he he he he-= oh damn, that's a good one, ur?ƒ© what tha? and another thing, the poor folks at BORG2 have no idea of the intense self-preservation policy that is the sole sworn duty of BORG1. There is absolutely no way that those SIX people will EVER release one speck of power to anyone- especially to BORG2. I recently tried to visualize the Black Rock City American Express Gold Card spelling out "chicken John" or, "Death Guild". Goddamn that's funny. he ?ƒ©?- I said gold card!
Now, where was I- oh yea, KDPW at Burnin' Bush 2005! Now that's important!
